Why Christianity?: Part 3
September 30, 2024•527 words
In this last installment, we are looking at why Christianity is unique and should be considered above all other beliefs is that:
Christianity offers to everyone grace. Unlike all other religions where grace must be earned, in Christianity, grace is GIVEN, from God to mankind. We have to make the free will choice as to whether we will receive it or not. Other religions says we must find a way to merit grace. This makes it hard to be settled in the mind, whether grace has truly been found or not. Goes back to a works base. The hardest part about Christianity in this part, especially in our culture, is the belief that we have to "pay our way", or, "nothing comes free". In this case, grace cannot be paid for by all the wealth of the world, and we cannot buy our way to it. Yes, by accepting the free gift of God, we will be different, but the gift was already paid for by Jesus Himself.
Christianity differs from other religions in that God activly SEEKS out mankind. In the other religions, mankind must SEEK god. This cannot be more relevently spoken of than we find in Luke 19:10, and in the parable of the lost sheep in Matthew 18:10-14. We are the lost sheep and Jesus seeks us out.
To my knowledge and research, Christianity is the only belief that proclaims our God became a man in order to fulfill point #2. No other religion lowers god that way showing that their god is not and never was affected by the very curse we have from sin. Hebrews tells us He was tempted but because He was God, He never sinned. So He knows exactly what we go through and our pain, sorrow and temptations. All the other religious gods are offstanding, untouched, and unfazed by our weakness. The Christians' God was in human form, walking and living in this sin cursed world. He knows what we go through, how we feel, and what we struggle with. It is obvious we will have to address the topic of the Trinity, but that is another topic. Then, our God, who was 100% God and 100% man, took our sins on Himself, died in our place to provide a way of salvation. No other religion teaches this.
This, for now, closes our topic of why Christianity. There are many branches we must and will explore, such as:
1) Why so many denominations and movements?
2) The Bible's truthfulness and reliability.
3) The Trinity.
4) Who are the Brethren?
5) The Brethren compared to other beliefs in Christianity.
6) The Brethren compared to Amish and Mennonite.
7) How does Piety work in the Brethren
8) The issue of pain and a good God.
9) Science and the Bible
10) Christianity and the keys to life's trials and struggles (which this will be broken into many subjects).
11) Brethren in modern culture
And a host of other topics. The goal is to show Christianity, and more Specifically, Brethren, have answers is very viable in the midst of a world full of chaos and confusion today.
