Proof for the Bible Part 3: Archeological

In a previous post, it was mentioned that our knowledge and understanding of people and places may not be 100%. There are questions regarding where ancient cities were located or how far some old civilizations extended. Does this remove the authority of Scripture? Is this enough to make the case the Bible is not true? No. When we look at the Archaeological developments that have taken place over the course of the last one hundred plus years, it is exceptionally profound how much has been validated and proved from the Scripture. We could spend many pages and words to illustrate this, but we will only focus on a few.
We have evidence after evidence for a global flood as recorded in Genesis. This comes from several sources. First, every culture around the world has a story of a global flood, and only eight people being saved out of the whole world. We also have the genealogical strata showing fast erosion, and lots of water (compare the Grand Canyon to the Mt. St. Helen's eruption). We have fossilized sea creatures high on mountain tops. Doubters have not been able to articulate in a logical and coherent way how these could be.
Solomon's Temple. Some argue that Solomon could not have made the temple described in the Kings. It was impossible. Until the 'Ain Dara Temple. It was designed and laid out in much of the same parameters as Solomon's temple in Jerusalem and has the dating to match.
King David. Several years ago, many argued against a literal King David. No evidence was ever presented to prove this King existed, and scholars mocked Bible believers for holding true to the Scriptures. The mocking was officially silenced when the Tel Dan Stela was discovered and with it an inscription proving the existence of King David. Since that discovery, other evidences have been found. David is now not questioned as to his identity.
Peter. There was some question in regard to where Peter lived and if that is true or not. It was not that long ago, a house was found in Capernaum and there is evidence that this is Peter's house, and James F. Strange, and Hershel Shanks, give many circumstantial evidence showing this house being used as a meeting place for the early church.
Siloam Pool. This was discovered in 2004 showing the miracle of Jesus' healing of the blind man is true.
We will stop with these five, but we could also make the case for Ashkelon's Arched Gate, the Stepped Stone Structure of the defense of Jerusalem, the Babylonian Siege Towers and Arrowheads, and many more.
The case being archaeology has defended the authenticity of the Bible. There are great groups that add to this regularly and I would encourage going to their resources. One such group, Biblical Archaeology (https://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/), is a great place to start. The proof of the Bible, in this third installment is adding to the validity of the Scripture, but we have not even looked at the Prophetic elements of the Bible! For that, we will look in the next post.
