Inspiration of the Bible: Intro

How did we get the Bible? According to skeptics, the belief is that the Bible was simply written by individuals who were just trying to make sense of the Devine as they could. The Bible is full of metaphors, and stories, but is also not authoritative and can be anything we draw out of it. This puts out a very bad foundation of understanding of the Bible. The motives for doing such can vary for many different reasons. For some, it could be a desire to lesson the authority of Scripture. For others, it is to "liberate" the Bible from its roots. Yet for even others, it is a desire to loosen up the "believers" from the "old" ways that are not part of the modern society.
The Bible is not subject to the ebb and flow of society. The Word of God is not written to be adjusted simply to follow the way society thinks. It is not adaptable to make us feel better, or to not confront what the sinful flesh desires. Instead, it stands as a beacon to find truth, and authority. Either mankind will fall on their knees in humble submission to the Word of God and it's Author (God), or the Bible will be the very standard by which all will be judged, and it will break those who fail to submit.
But how did we get the Bible? What about preservation? Finally, what does this mean to us who are reading it today? We will cover this in several stages. First, we are going to look at the false views of inspiration. Then we will go into what is inspiration. With inspiration established, we will reveal preservation. Finally, we will close with the application that means for all of us.
There is one question we must answer: What does it mean for me if the Bible is absolutely true? That we will address when we get to it.
