The great Reformation was emphatically a reformation of the pulpit in this particular, and a revival of expository preaching.

True descendants of the Reformation will have high esteem for the preaching of the Word. In terms of practice, if preaching is devalued, not the priority, then youโre not an heir of the Reformation!
But this isnโt just a practice. Itโs because of theology. Why were they preachers? Sola Scriptura. It was their doctrinal convictions about the Word that necessitated the primacy of the pulpit. Itโs logical: a high view of Scripture automatically creates a high view of preaching. And the reverse is true, as well: a low view of preaching betrays a low view of Scripture.
