The Russian Chess Federation held the 2026 Vassily Smyslov Cup in Moscow in early June; a round robin event of 8 players, the highest Group of which ("A") included 5 titled players, an average rating of 2072, and time control of 90 minutes with a 30 second increment per move. Fifteen year old Ivan Shinkorenko (2091) (Ivanovo) won the Group by a full point and undefeated, followed by Egor Zdorov (2110) and Artem Tsepilov (1990). Shinkorenko posted a performance rating of 2379.
