My hope in writing is to glorify God, his creations and to share light, love, and hope.

A few days ago in the midst of running around like a crazy man trying to help as many people that I knew and people that I got to know with flood issues, Christmas gifts and my boys activities my attention was drawn to an evergreen tree by my house.

Now this tree, my wife and I have gotten the privilege to see grow from only about 5 feet tall to stretch out and expand into being over 10 feet tall over the last four years.

No, it wasn’t just the size and beauty that had drawn my attention to it this day, it was that there were dead brown pieces still clinging to it.

These were from it growing, expanding and outgrowing its original form.

And now it’s time to knock all of that loose so that it can breathe more freely, expand to its full potential more easily and to be stronger and to be more healthy.

It’s time to let the old things go that are no longer serving the core beauty of what’s inside.

I feel like there is a lot that this tree has yet too fully share with me.

And I look forward to helping it stretch out and grow into all of the potential that it can possibly be.

It’s amazing what could be learned from a tree.
