From Butt Removal to Firewood 🪵

So today as I was about to start my day in prayer I noticed a couple of construction cars parked in front of my house.

Last week when another construction car had parked in front of my house there were a lot of cigarette butts left in my yard.

Now I have absolutely zero issue with construction workers parking where they need to in order to get their job done.

But butts are a no-go for me as I have two young active boys that I don’t want around cigarettes and we strive to keep our place clean of trash.

So I politely asked the men if they smoked and if they did if they could please not leave their butts on the road.

They were both very kind and respectful and had other ways of disposing of them that weren’t on the side of the road.

Come to find out they were the flagger team that was making the road safe while a crew was going down my street to remove dangerous trees that would likely fall down if we had another windstorm.

He also said if I needed firewood that I should just go behind where the workers were chopping the trees down and I could pick up a few cords.

Funny enough (it’s a God thing) my wife and I were talking about getting an outdoor fireplace so we and the kids could enjoy the warmth of a fire together on a cold night.

And we had started this conversation a few days ago and I’d been trying to figure out where I was going to find firewood. 🪵

And God provided massively.

A whole trailer full of dry wood, wet wood, maple, cedar, and there’s still more to collect just waiting on the side of the road whenever I’d like to collect more.

And they’re not even done removing dangerous trees yet.

Not only did I make some new friends, I also am one step closer to providing memories fo my family of being around a fire, chopping wood, and being together.

I’m still amazed at how God works.
