Things are Getting Funny

So today as I was getting ready for my training I had a couple of choices.

I could go for a sit in my cold tub first, then read my morning devotional or read first, chill second.

So of course I prayed about it.

And the answer I got back was, “join me by the river”.

Which I thought was funny because I only have a stream by my house.

But then it came again, “join me by the river”.

So I took my devotional book and sat by my stream and started reading.

I was about halfway through when I read, “ arise, go to the river of your experience, pull up a few bullrushes, and fashion them into an arc in which your infant faith may float safely on the stream. Forget not what your God has done for you; turn over the book of your remembrance, and consider the days of Old.….”

Never before in my wife’s and my reading of this devotional as river been expressed and this was a brand new page that I have never glanced at before.

To all of this at 4:30 this morning I had to laugh out loud while sitting by my stream in 22° Fahrenheit weather.

I still have plenty of time to take a quick dip before going off to class.

Times like this confirm that God‘s got a sense of humor.
