Things are Continuing to Get Weird

So for the past few months I’ve been working on cleaning up my relationship with God and Jesus.

In doing this I’ve decided to base my life on what the word of God says through what the Bible says.

Already having the King James Version, I’d been praying about what version to get next. As there are a few to pick from like ESV and NIV.

So today I was impressed upon to read the daily devotional by my stream today.

As I was finishing up I asked God what He’d like me to do next, to which He answered, “come walk with me”, which I understood as ‘go for a walk without any distractions so I can hear and talk with Him.’

So I did.

As I was walking and talking about why I’d like to do go His children and help those that had been hurt by their experiences in churches and has kept them from a close personal relationship with God, I was doing like I normally do, pick up trash.

Now today was a particularly cold day at 26 degrees and holding the frozen trash while walking through the frost covered world was making my fingers hurt.

As I neared a local daycare that’s also a church on Sundays, I decided to drop off the trash there instead of further down the road at the community center.

It was just too cold. 🥶

I picked up a couple more pieces of trash in the church parking lot and went to the dumpster.

To my surprise the dumpster was super full and there were two books at the top of the pile.

To provide some background, there have been some people going to the standing book swap boxes and taking out books and throwing them in random locations. On the ground into bushes, and other random places.

So initially I thought of returning the books to a local book swap box, until I read what they were.

The one on top was green and said, “New Testament Large Print NIV” which was very striking to me as I was right by a church and couldn’t understand why a bible would be thrown away.

The second was an “America’s Next Top Model” book which I decided to leave and not bring to the kids book swap box.

But the New Testament I decided to look over to make sure it wasn’t ruined or contaminated in someway. Once it appeared to be a fine working NIV bible, I decided to keep it.

As I continued my walk I decided to walk and read while on my way to the local lake.

After a few minutes it struck me, “Come walk with Me” was able to happen because I was walking with God’s word, because of finding a Bible in the trash which is also the answer to which version should I be reading right now. 🤯

To which I busted out in laughter and joy.

I still continue to be amazed.
