Woke up around 9am for breakfast at the hostel. Homemade soda bread and scones, cereal, and lots of OJ. Headed down the main street again.
There was an older guy with a guitar singing sundown by Gordon Lightfoot. A few people stopped. After he'd finished we realised everyone who'd stopped was Canadian.
I did a quick run through of the galway museum. It was not super impressive. A lot of text on walls really. I wasn't feeling 100% so that may have been a factor too.
Went and chilled in a park for a bit. Met an american for lunch and a couple pints. Went to a place at the recommendation of the bartender below my hostel. It was decent. I got soup.
Went for a nap after at my hostel. When I woke up and headed downstairs to get a towel, I met the Aussie from Friday in Dublin! After washing up, we met up in the pub downstairs to watch Ireland v the Netherlands in soccer. The bartender asked what I'd ordered for lunch earlier. "You poor bastard", he said. Guess he didn't like soup. We had some time before the game so grabbed kebab. It was pretty mid.
Half way through the soccer match, that night's pub crawl arrived at the bar with a bunch of people I recognized - the guy I'd had lunch with, the girl I'd met in the dorm, and another guy and girl I'd met in Dublin on Friday.
There was a live musician in the bar and a couple extremely drunk galwegians. They were really fun and brought up the mood of the whole bar. Dancing and chaos. One almost got kicked out when he grabbed the mic from the singer to do a solo. Ireland lost the match but it was still a good time. Most people didn't seem too into it which was too bad. I'd heard Dublin had the Dutch out in full force, but I didn't see much orange or green in Galway.
The pub crawl moved over to the skeff and we decided to tag along. The front door was after that.
Met an Austrian girl who could understand American/Canadian accents but not Australian or Irish ones.
The final bar had an Irish name I couldn't pronounce. It also had a 10€ fee to get into the room where the band was playing. Because of this, everyone hung out in the smoking area on the roof.
It was pretty late at this point and and the Dublin Aussie wanted to go into the music room. I said goodbye to him.
Stopped for Chinese food on the way back with a couple others. Absolutely delicious.
