The Anatomy of a Game: Directions

To move from a location to another location you must move in a direction. Any single location will have a limited number of directions that you can move in. These are the valid directions of travel, or directions for short.

A location can have directions of travel in any combination of the directions:

North
South
East
West
North East
North West
South East
South West
Up
Down

The up and down directions can be used to go up and down flights of stairs, or ropes, or ladders, or anything else that encompasses the notion of up and down.
