Americans Want a 21st Century Success Story

🇺🇸🇺🇦 President Biden referred to South Korea as a success story during President Yoon Suk-yeol's recent visit to the USA to celebrate the Korean-American alliance. That success story happened 70 years ago, when the USA fought along with Korea to help defeat the invading communist regime of North Korea. As President Yoon Suk-yeol stated in his address to the US Congress, South Korea was receiving US AID after the war, but they have now grown to become the 10th largest economy in the world. South Korea is now free, happy, and prosperous. Americans love these success stories. We thrive on these success stories.
However, we have not had any recent success stories. We have not had any new countries join the Free World in this century. We have not created any new alliances like the ones we created back in the 1940s and 1950s. Yet, this is how most Americans measure our nation's success.
We have wasted too much of our time and resources on China and the Middle East, without any significant results. Although some of these countries have had some prosperity, like China and Saudi Arabia, none of them have committed to freedom, democracy, or human rights. They haven't even committed to opening their markets to US businesses. Their citizens are still repressed, and many are still impoverished. They are engaged in modern-day slavery, and they bully our allies. While China sends a "peace envoy" to Europe, they have warships circling Japan.
Americans need and want a new success story. We need to know that the Free World is expanding. We want to know that the world is becoming a better place, and that we have helped make it a better place. We will not accept a world that is governed by totalitarian regimes or even threatened by them. We will not accept threats to our individual freedoms, to our security, or to our way of life. Nor will we accept a world order that allows this to happen to others.
Ukraine has the potential to be a huge success story. All we need is the courage to help them achieve it. We must do everything we can to help them win this war.
