๐บ๐ธ "A liberal international economy can not tolerate free-riders who benefit from the opening of other economies but refuse to open their own markets." - Robert Gilpin
We have allowed China to free-ride for several decades now. That game is over.
We are not pleased with the way China handled the pandemic outbreak, which caused an international crisis, creating economic shocks around the world. We are not pleased with their aggressive behavior against our allies in the Indo-Pacific, specifically Japan, Australia and Taiwan. We are not pleased with their relationship with North Korea, a huge threat to our ally South Korea. We are not pleased with their repeated thefts of data, intellectual property, and violations of trade rules in the USA. We are not pleased with their predatory loans in Africa. We are not pleased with the transnational repression activities in the USA and Europe among other places. We are not pleased with their violations of human rights... We are not pleased with China at all. xo
