The Salman Rushdie Act

🇺🇸 American Liberals would like to propose new legislation to address the issue of foreign powers terrorizing American citizens, also known as, transnational repression. Any American that is attacked, threatened, intimidated, stalked or harassed by a foreign power will be entitled to receive one billion dollars to pay for their security expenses and reparations for the negative effects on their quality of life. No foreign power has the right to violate our rights. We will not tolerate it.

The foreign power's assets will be confiscated to ensure the fine is paid in full to the victim. Salman Rushdie was attacked on US soil by Iranian terrorists, and we wish to name this legislation after him. We believe he should be entitled to receive this benefit.

All Americans and freedom-loving people have the right to live free from terrorism, intimidation and harassment. This new legislation will help mitigate the new reality of transnational repression, and ensure that the fundamental rights and freedoms of our citizens are respected.
