ASD adult self-soothing strategis

Note: This is based on my personal experience; following ways are ranked by level of stress and emotional intensity in ascending order:

  1. Breathe deeply, release tension
  2. Walk around / stretch body / swing arms / jump
  3. Drinking plenty of sparkling water/coconut water/milk
  4. Listen to my fav music playlist or watch fav episodes of a movie/drama
  5. Grounding in a quite space e.g. bookshop/coffeeshop/library/private lavatory
  6. Organize my space/myself to obtain a sense of control: sorting room, deep-cleaning, showering, washing face, brushing hair
  7. Run/PT session, Bus tour, Wandering aimlessly
  8. Distracting activities: high-intensity exercise, massage, journaling
  9. Talking therapy
  10. Sleep with my pillow
