Stinchcombe Parish Council Meeting - November 2024

Stinchcombe Parish Council Meeting

13th November 2024

Gateway to Stinchcombe

It was a pleasure to attend the Stinchcombe Parish Council meeting last Wednesday night along with SDC Cllr Braun and GCC/SDC Cllr Cohen. Here are some of my personal notes.

Just one member of the parish came to the public forum so that they could respond to any questions about their planning application which the council were considering. The agenda item was moved forward. A quick few questions on the application and the Chair said that they wouldn't be commenting on the application and SDC would consider it.

There were a few questions on the SDC Councillors report. Residents, businesses and community groups are welcome to take part in the public consultation on SDC's new five year Council Plan. The Council considered sending its own response.

Cllr Braun gave a verbal update on some planning cases and enforcement action. A few questions on Cllr Cohen's County Council report. Much discussion about the knock on effects from the closure of Rushmire Hill, Wotton for a few days recently. People using local knowledge to circumvent the diversion were causing all sorts of problems in the narrow roads around the parish. Everyone should follow the longer official diversion route to ensure sanity. It's going to be closed for six months early next year. GCC are holding a public meeting in Wotton on 10th December. A few other planning issues discussed.

A mega update on progress the Community Recreational Space (Children's Play Area). Lots of work been going on in terms of fundraisng, intention to raise Ā£31k on top of what's been raised so far, much detail, Tyndale Trust has contributed too, I think. Cllr. Braun suggested a few other funding sources. Then an update on the final few tasks relating to the swings.

An update on working groups for next meeting. I think Kath Hudson mentioned that Cam, Dursley & District U3A is starting a new Climate Change & Biodiversity Group with a start-up meeting on 3rd December, or was it an e-mail? It looks like Stinchcombe Speed Watch will come under the Parish Council umbrella and the first community speed camera is to be installed on Taits Hill Road in the next few weeks.

The Parish Council is laying on a Meet & Greet at 6.30pm on 5th December, it's in my diary and should be there.

Cllr Cohen, Braun and myself left the meeting at item #12.

You'll only receive email when they publish something new.
