The Last Session

What really is a last session of something?
A session in which you do something one last time. You think that you will be satisfied one last time. You may try to devise a plan for it, but it is not going to work. It does not work because we can't be satisfied one last time. You think you can quit something by having one last session. You see, this is a very false way to quit something; it's like telling a serial killer, "Here is your last session; you can perform one last murder."
Let's say you have finally quieted something, and now here's come a day where you ask yourself for just another last session.
You might ask yourself, 'Why would I need another last session?' The answer, of course, is because you weren’t satisfied with the previous one. Well, you may also defend yourself from this, but internally you will know this feeling of dissatisfaction. You will begin to find flaws in your methods; what have you done after the last session? You will question your decision, and then you will make yourself into a position of total defeat. It's like a serial killer telling himself, 'Maybe my method wasn't right; let's try again.' So, now in defeat, you take one more last session.
Now, was that previous last session really a last session? Can you have a last session of last sessions? Or perhaps a last session of last sessions of last sessions?
Well, if the serial killer entirely quits murdering, he won't need a last session. Whatever the previous session had would become his last session. And that would be perfect because he didn't know it was his last session.
This notion of the last session of anything rather exists only to fool ourselves.
If the serial killer believes this text and has recently had his 'last session,' what would he do now? The same applies to anyone who thinks they can quit something with a 'last session.' Let’s consider the possible outcomes...
i) Don’t attempt another murder, believing that the last session truly ended it.
ii) Attempt a few more murders, forgetting about the concept of a 'last session,' until he can discontinue again.
iii) Accept that, if he truly wants to quit, he wouldn’t need a 'last session' at all.
Whatever he may choose, he will face these choices again because of his notion of "the last session.".
