Is there anybody who remembers what Gandalf was looking for? The line of Gandalf at "Unexpected Journey" continues like this "...that keep the darkness at bay."
Alas! I must fiercely reject this standpoint. Not because I say the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk do not keep the darkness at bay, but because I say the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk are necessarily brings about evilness.
The most sincerest one among us feels the necessity of true explanation of what she/he did and for what reason she/he did it to other people, for just not to break heart of anybody. Do you think others will respond it accordingly? With sincerity and courtesy? No. They do not take these explanations serious, moreover, they do not understand what is said and for what reason. Their small everyday deeds/talks lead to unpredictable damage for human relations and are enough for one's lose of self-respect.
This is why people can become murderers, I inspire here from Amin Maalouf's Les identité meurtriè. Sure, Maalouf talks about more important another thing here, the issue of identity, but I think it is the same motivation behind two situations: the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk.
