This is my first day to attempt 100 days in a row of blogging/writing. Part of this is an attempt to get the constant flow of thoughts out on paper/screen, and another to find who I am as a husband and father. I daily think about why am I here, where am I going, what is the purpose of being on this planet. I hope we all think about this question often, I honestly do not think I would be happy if I did not. Unfortunately I think too many days have gone by where I forget who I am in an effort to maintain a good status in this world, these days I regret I will never get back. I have had a couple years of struggle to find my passion, the things that drive me. I am not sure that being in an office is supporting this too much, but what else can we do right? We have to support our families and put food on the table. Sometimes I wish there was another way. I am sitting down at my desk, looking at a photo of my wife wondering if I truly am the man she wants me to be, am I taking her on an adventure? Does she think I am a dangerous man? By dangerous I mean someone who is willing to take risks, love well, make sacrifices, be out in the wild, do hard things, and pursue her with my whole heart and being. I love my wife, I love my family, there is nothing I would not do for them, truly. I want to do what is best for my team, my team being the family.
As a man trying to be dangerous in this world it is incredibly difficult. We are faced with so many distractions, temptations, and themes that guide us towards the opposite of being a force. We should be striving, we NEED to be striving. What are we doing, what are we driving, where are we going, what problems are we solving, and why? When you understand that, absolutely send it. We are not here to be comfortable but to strive for greatness. It is important to note greatness does not mean 80 hour work weeks, a topic I think we will get to another time in this blog series challenge.
I am not sure where this is going to go, but I am excited for the journey, and most of all curious what ideas/thoughts will come from this.
