DAY022: MANAGING FREE CLOUD STORAGE
May 31, 2025•747 words
managing free cloud storages is not an easy task to do, as compared to getting cloud storages pro plans by costing money, but in general if u just wanna manage important files as an average internet user with knowing how to manage files correctly, u dont actually need to pay to keep ur memories safe, so let me show u how i do it in todays daily blog of #the121
what i do is simple, i just dont buy pro accounts cs i actually dont need them, and i can spend a bit of time of my day once a month or two, to dont get billed every month for those features that i not actually gonna use at all
and i create multiple accounts on cloud storages but not a lot of accounts, cs it'll put me on too much work that i'll be not able to do for my illness (illness of laziness), just a 6-7 account which is enough to store my important files, of course if u want free storage u will get less of them with less but essential features, so u have to limit ur storage usage at not so much compromising level, just a little
i mainly just store most important files that i only have access to or i love too much that i have doubt of getting vanished from internet, well there is not so much of this files if ur an normal person like ur surroundings & even if ur an pro user like me (yeah, im an pro)
first i filter out those imp files fron my all files in separate folder, than again devide them into multiple categories, like i store most important text & document files in proton drive which i have 10gb space on 2 accounts, and its more than enough for those docs cause most of them are not even 1mb big, and for all plain text i use standard notes which offer unlimited space for free
and i filter out another category files from imp files that is important but big files & store them on 100gb in 5 mega accounts, and while using mega accounts i have be careful since mega have policy of deleting inactive accounts more than 3 months, and thats not a problem if im able to access internet even once every month
and for photos & videos, umm, this is complicated cs its not same for everyone, most of us dont wanna lose a bit of their media files, and im not an heavy photo taker & and i believe storing memories is more important than storing high quality images, thats why i compress photos & videos with reasonable quality which still reduce the size by 70%, than save save them on 20gb in 2 ente photos account for photos only & 100gb in 5 mega accounts for videos
now for u, try not to use to many different cloud services, 2 or 3 services are enough, and 6-10 accounts is enough to maintain and use, dont get into to much, u can use proton, mega, ente as my guide any other combinations including pcloud, icedrive, etc of ur choice, but be sure to check their privacy focus and they must be have to e2ee, and while choosing mega always remember u have to login them every 3 months if ur not logged in or using them or ur memories will gone, if u take too much photos & videos u can use 10 mega account which will give u 200gb which is still very much normal use purpose
the reason i choose proton for smaller files cs its the privacy goat, and i only store most important files on them, and then mega for most other files cs it provides very much free space with e2ee and option to share folders which makes it easier to manage all accounts from ones dashboard, and ente for photos cs it have reasonable space for me with great categorizing & features, but my recommendations for photos for users who dont wanna compress & takes too much of them, go with mega, or u can use icedrive, idrive for strong encryption but ente does it with more features, the only feature it lacks is sharing on free accounts which is not problem for mega, idrive, icedrive
so ask me abt my recommendations by connecting on my socials, or for any reason feel free to communicate
have a better life...
