DAY021: FREE CLOUD STORAGES

so anyone in the world who lost their digital datas via accident knows how much a cloud storage is actually important, so lets start my another blog of #the121 with the my experience on cloud storages

nearly 5 years ago i lost most of my photos by accident, i was encrypted my sd card where i stored all my photos (nearly 2000+ pics), but i didnt even know what encrypted actually means in that time, i saw in on my samsung galaxy j2 prime (most famous device around my region that time), and done it somehow i dont even know how, but i forgot the password and had to delete all those photos since they were not accessible being encrypted

thats why i started to find right solutions for my data & backup, when i came across to find about cloud storages while i found out abt terabox, and that time it was a charm for me, cs 1tb of free storage on the cloud is still unimaginable in todays date, so i started to use it without any concerns for nearly 3 years until i found out abt its background & get to know about techs more, and the thing is that terabox's whole server based on china & now on japan, the policy to protect my data fairly very low, and my data is fully accessible by anyone in the company which they state is not possible but no clear details about why

so my data is not private & not even secure with them, why, cs the whole company have zero trust scores if u find abt their infos & policies & servers, so if ur data got lost, u cant do anything abt it at all, with this much insecurity & no privacy focus, nobody should give their data to companies like this, and they shows thousands of ads which can clearly declare that how they earning money, thats why terabox is not trustable at any cost

so what is the best option for now, well there are many trusted companies that can confirm that their are very less chances of losing our data, but how many services are free, well there is very less limit on all of those trusted services, while mega.nz being the most free storage offering company while being trusted & e2ee, yeah mega is e2ee which means its also very secure while still offering 20gbs of free storage which is more than anyother trusted services at the market, but in compare to terabox, its seems veryunfair at first cs 20gb is very less than 1tb (1024gbs), but u have to understand that free storage is aint free at all, its u independently selling ur data to random companies with ur full consent & still getting zero trust on your datas security

so after keeping that on mind, what is the solution now, well, just limit ur data, if u really have too much valueable data than purchasing premium account of some privacy focused cloud storage is not a big problem for u, cs some of them offers more storage than terabox while keeping ur data upto u with full respect, but if u dont have that much important data, ur data is still important to u, and shouldnt be accessible by anyone, but in that case limiting ur data is not a big problem at all since ur gonna save the impotant infos thats cant be accessible by others, but datas that dont have that much importance, u can store them anywhere at all, even on terabox

there are many secure & e2ee supported cloud storage out there and definitely not google drive, cs u know, google, what else i have to say, just forget it, and all popular privacy focused cloud storages have their free tiers like pcloud (10gb), box(10gb), mega(20gb), icedrive(10gb), ente(10gb/photos&vidsOnly), filen(10gb), protondrive(5gb), and if u open 3 or more accounts on each of them u will get automatically 225gb of free storage that is also secure, yeah thats more than enough to yse in your life for storing only important & personal data, yeah u have to maintain those accounts which isnt a difficult work at all since u dont have to pay for them, and that means u already have enough time to spend on it, and u dont have to remember all account credentials, just use proton pass or any password manager if ur choice, it'll be easy as easy

well thats what i do to get free storage and i'll post a detailed blog of how to manage all of those accounts very easily, how i do it, but yeah, its possible to limit ur data by separating them by what is actually important & what shouldnt be seen by others, tgis way u will left with very less amount of data, and for photos & videos, use ente or filen, their just best on those scenarios & have some different type of features of different type of needs, i use both to get everything out of them

so yeah, if u wanna do it for free u have to learn to do it, u dont wanna learn, u have to pay to get tension free while there is no tension at all while staying on free but just some hustles, which is not a problem at all if u still get to chance to stay free
