Acting old

I don't like say "happy birthday" because I think it's kinda boring.
I guess there's nothing really wrong with it, but don't you think it's a bit overused? Like played out? Like it's just something you say but don't really mean? Something you might leave in a message to your great aunt because you can't think of anything else to say?
Happy happy birthday Aunt Mary, hope you have a great day!
Like, come on, where's the fun, spirit, cynicism in that?
As I've gotten older, I kind of understand more why people hate aging. My body at 30 definitely feels worse than at 20, and that sucks.
My grandpa always says that he's still a 22 year old kid wondering who that old guy is in the mirror. That must be a strange feeling. I hope to experience it one day.
Instead of "happy birthday", my thing the past 4-ish years has been:
Getting old is mandatory, acting old is optional.
I don't know who said it, but I freaking love it. My one issue with it is that I suppose getting old isn't truly mandatory, it's more of a privilege.
Anyway, I hope we (collectively) can keep acting young because it feels way more fun, and what could be a better goal than having more fun?
Talk soon, Mitch
