The balancing act

[062] ... [General]

One more day, and one more wondering on what to put in to keep it going. Only the entry numbering gets done effortlessly, but what really matters is what follows.

Talking of "what follows", one related that comes to mind is the quote by American architect Louis Sullivan: Form follows function. Obviously he referred to the symmetrical aspects followed till early twentieth century with public buildings mainly constituted by palaces, churches, temples and such, and to break away from it since the new building types like offices, apartments, libraries, airports and a host of others that formed the need of the new world, where an imposed symmetry wasn't needed to accommodate various types of requirements, and yet appear balanced.

That’s all for the larger scaled ones, where the angle of views don't let you view it in its entirety, seeing it in parts that are close by. But looks like symmetry can't be ruled out everywhere. The mobile phone for instance where the size is smaller, with most apps' interface sticking to it unavoidably. The settings menu balanced on the other side by a search icon or a profile picture. Of course they need to make most of the available space (somehow I am averse to the standard screen real-estate) to fit in all functions.

Luckily the hardware aspects don't bother about, since the circuitry follows its own logic based on what's to be connected than adding dummy volume or power buttons on the outside. In a way it truly signifies Form follows function.

Wish even in politics the left and right were almost balanced with one of it having a slightly upper hand needed to govern, than the overweight of one-side that doesn't seem healthy...
