rewritten introduction (Paper 2)

Female characters are presented as stronger than men in 'The God of Carnage' by Yasmina Reza and 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf' by Edward Albee. 'The God of Carnage' is about two couples coming together to discuss a physical dispute between their sons. 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf' is also about two couples, in this case, they meet with the intention of getting to know each other better. In both texts, through the consumption of alcohol, the women assert dominance over their husband by defying them. This demonstration fo strength can also be seen in how the women weaponise their status and belittle their husband by calling them names.
