If you wish your loved ones live forever or that people would do you no harm, you are foolish. The lifespan of your loved ones is not in your control. And bad actors will continue to be as they are.
If you wish to not be disappointed in your own actions, or tempted by your vices then that is appropriate as they are within your control.
