New year's message

We recently got COVID or at least we tested positive based on the rapid antigen testing kit. We were religiously using masks, which we know only provide limited protection. A lot of this COVID affair depends on the behavior of other people around you. Because of our strict approach to our own behavior and the reduction in our movements, it was easy to trace where we could have gotten the 'rona.

I want to thank the administration and the leadership for bestowing upon us the valuable opportunity to get this disease. Their infinite wisdom is most apparent in their decision to have us be physically present for a service activity that can be deployed online (and, in fact, has been partially deployed online already).

No one wants to get the disease, even for the sake of getting it. It is a disease which affects people in different ways while you have it and even after you have seemingly recovered from it. I am not going to bore you with my experience or even misrepresenting it as the fucking flu.

So, it has not been a good transition to a happy new year.
