Running Away

Steven knew that he only had a moment to respond or Sam would be gone. She has run more than once in the past. "Sam, we have over stayed our welcome. We should go. Jacks...uh...Jaqueline. Thank you so much for your hospitality, but we better go." Steven quickly crossed the room and grabbed Sam's hand and led her to the front door while Jaqueline watched them go. They were in the elevator and almost to the ground floor when Steven realized that Sam had no shoes on. Steven did not want to go back and face Jaqueline again.

"Where are we going?" Sam asked as the door open revealing the lobby of the building.

"I don't know. Let's go back to London." Steven said as he pulled her behind him.

"Good idea. It has only been three days, but it feels like it has been months."

Steven nodded in agreement. "Damn Matthew." he muttered under his breath. Steven pulled out his phone and requested a vehicle on his ride sharing app. They waited in the lobby until the black sedan pulled up. Still holding Sam's hand they rushed through the cool evening air. Steven opened the door and let Sam climb in and then followed after her. "LaGuardia Airport."

"Yeah, I know man. I have it right here on my phone." The driver responded to Steven's strained request.

"What are you doing?" Sam asked Steven as the car pulled away from the curb.

"Getting us out of New York."

"No. with this." She said while raising their hands, hers firmly grasped by his hand.

Steven shrugged. "Holding your hand."

"No. that is not hand holding. That is a death grip. Ever since you picked me up this morning you have been treating me like a child. An adult child. Like I can't take care of myself. Yes, things were a bit tense this morning. But, since then, it is like I am a completely different person to you. I get that expectations have changed. I mean really changed. But am I any different than I was two days ago when I rested in your arms? When I pleasured you. When we confessed our love?" Sam paused. "Mind your own business." She said while giving the driver a stare that sent the driver's focus back on the road.

She returned to look at Steven with as much kindness she could show. "And, if I ever catch you kissing another one of my clones, you will be the last person that robot kisses."

"Technically..."

Sam cut him off. "Are we clear?"

"Yeah." Steven said laughing.

"Good. I will keep you then."

Steven looked into Sam's brown eyes. He did not understand how love worked, but he knew he loved Sam and would do his best to help her feel like the most loved robot in the world.
