Defense of the Bible: part 4: Argument: Did God really say?

This argument finds its basis in Genesis 3. The serpent asked Eve, "Did God really say?" This challenge still carries forward, including those who claim to be Christian as well. They will find themselves in a field of study called "Biblical Criticism". If you, reader, have a reaction as a teacher running her nails down a chalkboard, then that is exactly how this is to sound.

The mindset is to bring to bear a thought denying the existence of God's true word and we have to "discover" it. Of course, this leads to the Bible being put under scientific studies, and left open to abuse of many who doubt the Bible in the first place. The bigger risk is the destruction of what God said based on faulty decisions and ideologies by those who are "critiquing" the Scriptures.

This doubt being cast on the mind of the readers is seen in our world today. Many question if the Bible is real, did Jesus really mean what He said, is there any proof that what He said He did? Sadly, many who say they hold to the Bible, fail in this regard because they themselves fall into the trap of attempting to "find" the Jesus of the New Testament but then put the Scripture under the chopping block. One example is Mark 16:9-20. We will address the issue about multiple versions in another post, but heed the call given in the Scriptures. God's Word is perfect and true. There does not need to be a doubt to God's Word for God inspired His Word and He preserved His Word. Doubters and scoffers have, do and always will attempt to destroy God's Word and its meaning, and we as Christians must be willing and able to defend our position.

As we have written down in God's Word, by the Holy Spirit Himself, we can rest assured of it to its fullest degree. We need not doubt the truth, for we have evidence after evidence for the Scriptures themselves.
