Defense of the Bible: part 3: Argument: It is only a collection of ancient writings and means nothing to us today

For many today, the older writings of the past fail to rise to the issues and constructs of today. Instead they are simply something to learn, and keep as a reference.

This charge, however, does not explain how the Bible, when put into practice, is able to lift mankind from the pit of despair to the heights of hope. It also does not answer how the Bible, after almost two thousand years, still has the ability to tell us about what is going on today and how things will turn out in the future.

Even deeper, the Bible gives us an inside look at the heart and motivation that drives mankind today! No other book, with the genealogy of the Bible, the perfection of the Bible, and the evidence of the Bible, exists or does this. Yes, the Bible was written in a specific time, to specific people, with a specific purpose, but through that, it echos through the halls of time with lessons and warnings for us.

Consider is how powerful the Bible is. It is so powerful that entire nations seek to destroy and remove the Bible and its followers than repent and obey! They will fail and be broken upon the Word of God. True Christians will be set up as rulers over the world, during the Millennial reign of Jesus, in Jerusalem.

This is not some Joseph Smith type "little god" theory. The Bible simply points out we will be more like local judges. Never-the-less, all will be judged by the standard in the Bible, whether they accept it or not.

The last couple things to consider about the Bible. First, it was written, free from the cultural relativism that besets most writings. Read many of the blogs and writers on this site, including this one. You can learn about the author and where they have been, and are, the values they hold, their thought and mind process. Their writing reveals these things to us for that is the lens they write through. This is why the Bible is MORE important. It cuts through all of that.

Second, hindsight is 20/20. We can look back at what was written, see the thoughts, and match it to where we are. We can see mistakes, events, and movements not seen by the author. Through that lens, the Bible has been 100% true in ALL predictions. That is an unmatched record.

Since this stands true, the Bible means much more to us! The purpose, meaning, lessons, all of it speaks to us, and where we are at. No one will or can escape the grasp of the Bible, no matter the attacks levied against it. It is the standard. We will kneel in broken humility before Jesus, who is the Word made flesh, or we we will fall broken before Him in judgment.

What about those who do not believe in God, the Bible, Jesus? An example given several times is that of cars and showers. We can chose to not believe in cars or showers, but it does not mean we will not stink or get hit if we live ignoring the reality. God is real. His Word tells us His standards and how we can come to Him. We can live outside of that reality, but we will then face reality at some time.
