Defense of the Bible, part 2. Argument: It is only written by man

We will not argue that mankind wrote the Bible. That is not our point of contention. If God chose, a sea sponge could have written it. Our point of contention is HOW mankind wrote it.

The answer requires the understanding of inspiration, preservation and transmission. Once we answer these three things, we will trace the Bible.

Inspiration is the work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit moved on the hearts and minds of mankind and led them to write what they did. Hebrews 1:1-3 tells us this. It was not just them writing what they felt. If that were the case, the Bible would be full of contradictions.

Once God finished leading His writers in what they were to say, then these words were preserved or protected. No power on earth, no strength of man can or will ever break the Scriptures. It was settled in Heaven forever. The only way to attempt to destroy the Bible is to dilute the Bible. That is done by asking what Satan did in Genesis 3:1-2, and then writing an entire new Bible. This is why we have the critical text, and the ones Satan used to write it is Wescott and Hort.

Lastly, transmission is how the Bible came from the beginning to us today. How we hold the Bible in our hands. God inspired the Word of God. He moved mankind to write as we find in the books of Hebrews, 1 Timothy, etc. Mankind was not just "possessed" and then used as a typewriter, nor was he unable to control his hands. But he was moved by God to write what He did. That is why there is no issue in the fact that mankind wrote the Bible, and still acknowledge it was written by the Holy Spirit. A good litmus test is to see how it has stood against the attack of scoffers. No other book has been put under such scrutiny, and yet come out perfect. It was not just a human book.

Unless God is in control. The amount of writers, time between, and the different situations, there is ample room for there to be mistakes, contradictions, and flaws. Yet the Bible is cohesive in its entirety.

How could over 40 authors, spread out over a thousand years, and in different countries and kings, how could they have one cohesive writing? It is impossible. Yes, mankind was the instrument to write, but the Holy Spirit was the drive. This lays down several key arguments we have to suppose Biblical accuracy and validity.

Does anyone really wish to argue against something BECAUSE of human penmanship? That is a one sided, and completely in defensible position when the Bible is the core subject.

Yes, the Bible was written by man, through the inspiration of the Scripture. However, the Bible brings to bear the sense, impression, the, almost magnitude feeling that something bigger is at work and underlying it.

We will address many evidences in future posts. Until then, a great question for doubters is to ask for proof of their claims? How or what evidence can be presented to show the Bible is less because of its human penmanship. It will be shown that the Bible is divine BECAUSE of the human authors!

Any evidence presented should be verifiable, and documented to show the breakdown of the link between the claims of Scripture, and its human writing. True, there are many "versions" and they do have issues, but that further dilutes the true Scripture, as well as gives credence to this argument. This still fails to show the link of authorship and text failure. From here we will now look at argument number three, next post.
