A Brethren Answer to Abortion: Conclusion
June 9, 2025•1,034 words
We do wish to wrap up this topic of abortion. This post is going to tie up some final thoughts and will appear disjointed.
There have been very direct things mentioned, but we should not ignored the ones who already had an abortion. There is, medically proven, several things that affect these women. There is the physical risk of an abortion which is not painless or safe as Planned Parenthood makes it out to be. There are health risks that show up immediately, or later and there is a toll on the mother mentally, emotionally, and psychologically after an abortion.
If you, dear reader, is one of these that have already had an abortion, please understand this is not unforgivable. You are loved, and there is healing, hope, and peace. No, the scars will never fully disappear, but we do not shun you for your decision. The pain and sorrow will never be truly gone, but there is a God in Heaven who loves you and died on the cross for you. You can find peace, love, and yes, joy. The scars will remain, however, Jesus' love is greater than that. Abortion is wrong, and a sin, and that is why Jesus died so you can be forgiven of your sin. The Bible calls for all to come to repentance and find mercy and forgiveness at the cross. His mercy and forgiveness is free, as it cost Jesus everything. However, His mercy and forgiveness demands from us everything: Our life, our devotion, or thoughts, or hearts, our actions/reactions, our words, our very existence.
All must humble themselves and come to Jesus, admitting they are sinners, confessing those sins, and then believing in the finished work of Jesus Christ. There are a couple of Bible verses to start with: Romans 10:9; 1 Peter 1:21. If you did have an abortion, please know that you are still loved. This whole series is not to attack, but a defense of the unborn. What is being said here in the end will have no impact on mothers who do not care or have no conscience about ending the life of their baby. For those who are grieving or are burdened, please do not hesitate to call upon God for mercy, peace, and love. We as Christians, true Christians, are going to help you through all that you are facing. There are many women who can relate to you in a Godly way. Women's Resource Center's, who focus on the care of babies and mothers, actually care for the health and well being of the mother and the baby. Here is a link for one of the groups: https://crisispregnancycentermap.com/. While Brethren Apologist may or may not agree with everything, they do have the right to life policy right. They can also help direct you, as the reader, to resources in your area if you need it.
On forced tax payments for Planned Parent hood. It is basically theft to force tax payers to pay for this "service". There are basic things that all tax payers should pay for, but this is not one of them. Many argue for the health of women, but Planned Parenthood makes most of their money from abortions, not women's health. If it is health, pregnancy resource centers are the perfect fit for this. Once again, tax money should not pay for the destruction of the future generation of a nation.
What about the argument, "We should not legislate morality". These make this argument but then demand a federal law protecting abortions. Could this have been a stand alone point? Yes. To try and say, "You cannot make laws forcing this morality", then say, "There needs to be a law protecting abortion" is contradictory. Abortion is a moral issue. Law is legislation. So those who are making this argument are, themselves, making laws to legislate morality.
See it? Is it ok to legislate morality, as long as the morality being legislated is what is personally wanted. No. That is hypocrisy. That is not the roll of government, and that is outside the realm of truth, morality, and yes, Biblical facts. How about a better approach such as teaching abstinence?
Some will argue saying that there is a right to do what is wanted with their own body (already dealt with), and they have a right to sleep around. So abortion is not about choice, it is about inconvenience and the baby is an "inconvenience for the party lifestyle". Abstinence education has far greater results, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, than abortion does. Everyone has a free right to live how they want, but no right to kill a baby. There are consequences for the actions of adults. One of them is pregnancy. That is not the baby's fault. To read more go here: https://www.conservapedia.com/Abortion
Would you trust someone in any position of leadership, if you cannot trust them to protect the most innocent among us? We should not. If a leader cannot be trusted to protect someone as innocent as a baby in the womb, how could they be trusted with the money, laws, and power? It is a death spiral to believe it is possible to murder babies, but then be a good leader.
Lastly, what about those who are rapped? This would cover incest rapes, rapes on the street, etc. This is not easy, and this post will not address every nuance of this. The rapist should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. There are resources and support for those who are rapped. However, bad this is, we also must look at facts. The reality of unwed pregnancies due to rape is very small. This is not saying it is ok, but to enforce the death of millions of babies based on a very, very small percentage, is not right either.
In all of this conversation, the baby is precious, innocent, and worthy of life that was given to him by God. Yes, there are things that must be evaluated throughout society, but the life of this baby is so precious, and the joy that can come from watching this baby grow is worth the time, energy, and protections being given.
