Does God exist: Evidence 1 - Biblical Evidence

Perhaps the more subjective evidence on the list, the Bible itself claims the existence of God. In the beginning of the Bible, in the Book of Genesis, the first words are, "In the Beginning God". As one Theologian said, "It does not try to explain God, or try to articulate what God was doing before this verse. Even if it did, we would not understand it." This is the starting point of God's existence.

Why is the Bible a good place to start on proving the existence of God? We have, in previous writings, laid out the argument for the Bible and its trustworthiness. There will be another series to explain the inspiration of the Bible, but that will be for another post. The main arguments laid out to explain and present the Bible and its truth has been given. The Bible, for as much as it is attacked, has never been proven to be false, or contradictory. Instead, the more the Bible is attacked, the more it is actually strengthened.

From this unconquerable position of strength, God's existence is never questioned, or debated. What is often question or debated is the ways in which God works. Job, for example, questions what God is doing when he suffers great loss. David asks many times where is the Lord. But the question of God's existence is never given. The concept of God not existing is not "new" but instead has only recently been propelled into mainstream. The problem for Atheist and Atheism is how much they have to ignore to get to their point of disbelief. This series will delve into a few of those, but one of the hurdles of an Atheist is the fact of the Bible. Yes, they can wave a hand and say it is false. They can even spend considerable amount of time debating, arguing, and critiquing the Bible. But the truth remains, the Bible still exists, and has grown in use not shrunk.

Considering the amount of energy spent in trying to destroy the Bible, the reality is the Bible has not been destroyed but only elevated higher. That can only happen if God does exist Himself. Does this sound a little circular? We know God exists because the Bible says it, but because the Bible says it, we know God exists. It may be circular, hence the beginning statement said this was the more subjective evidence in our list.

Still, to destroy the reality of God and what we know about God, there are two places Atheists must attack. The first is general revelation, which is the world around us. Creation tells us a lot about God. The second place is the Bible for its special revelation, which tells us about God what we cannot learn about Him through creation itself. That is a tall order and the atheists do this by appealing to evolutionary theory, and mechanisms to make it work without God. This line of reasoning ignores, or downplays so many laws of nature just to get to the laws of nature.

Occam's razor plays a strong point here. There are two ways in which we, and all we see, have come to existence. Either God created, or evolutionary process. Which has the most assumptions? That is why the Bible is not destroyed, and that is why God's existence is understood from a logical, intellectual, and practical standpoint. Most who reject God must reject this truth for they do not wish to be subject to God other than their own. The Bible clearly says we all will be accountable to God.

The hope is that by destroying the Bible, God's existence is destroyed. This has and will forever be a loosing proposition for an Atheist. It will be shown that God's existence can be, while not 100% proven, verified through several levels of evidence.
