In this scene, Joe in my opinion is going mad from his thoughts in his head. Towards the end of the short film, Joe starts to remember a song from a band which eventually gets stuck in his thoughts and mind. This feeling is positioned onto the viewers because the music is then played very loudly so that we are unable to hear any other sound effects which might be going on. This is a on-diegetic and a asynchronous sound because the sound is playing in the characters head however the sound has been added for the viewers to hear it after filming. The sound has gradually been payed really loudly because we then understand what Joe is hearing during the scene. All external sound such as the characters humming, voice or rock rustling has been blocked off so that is the only thought that the viewers can concentrate on. Before the music is crescendos, when hear a narration from Joe being interviewed and he shares his thoughts on the music which he dislikes their music and he couldn't get the song from playing out of his head. From the thoughts that Joe is experiencing during this stage of the story, Joe is going mad because he has lost control of his thoughts which makes his emotions confusing and insane.
