Pizza Time | Th 12/22

I woke up at 11 to Matthew coming downstairs. He made some coffee and left to hang out with friends, but also said that he won't be back for several days. I guess I'll be hanging out here alone for longer with my spotty internet and cake.

I've been watching Russian volleyball training tapes for a while and it's kind of fun apart from the internet problems. Thankfully it seems like I can get reliable internet if I restart my computer's wifi any time my connection stops. It's too bad that I disconnect every minute, but it's better than no internet.

Paul messaged me asking if I could play tonight, which broke my heart to see. I'm so hungry to play, but I think my body appreciates the break. Speaking of break, I took longer to stretch my hands last night and managed to get a great feeling stretch especially in my thumbs. That and the shoulder rehab have me feeling even more fresh and hungry to play. Emily also shared that DIVA opened their registration so we signed up for the same clinic, which is exciting. Sitting in this house I wish I had a ball to do drills against a wall with.

By some miracle the Spectrum gods have blessed me and I have a stable connection now. In the downtime I at least learned a few more macOS gestures and shortcuts though. Now I'm watching videos of another player I just realized is left-handed, Viktor Poletaev. It's nice seeing the different techniques various players have and trying to emulate them to see which feels most comfortable to my shoulder, but the real test is playing with them.

Chichi just messaged asking if I'll be at volleyball this Friday and I had to disappoint her too. I can't even play when I get back because LAN falls on Thursday and Friday night. I'm losing my mind being stuck in this house. I realized the ceiling of Adrian's apartment is about the height of a men's net. I'm this close to trying to turn something into a ball to pass around.

The internet stopped working so I went back to the phone. Eventually Adrian finished work and came home, but he was tired and out of it. Later he had a phone call and stayed in his room for a while, so I continued to chill on the couch.

Later Adrian emerged and we explored looking for food, but it was late so we didn't have many options. In-n-Out burger and Chick-fil-A had lines so we passed them. Eventually we passed a Korean pizza shop and Adrian got the idea to order one. I put the order in online while we stopped by Ralph's for some things, but we were too late to order takeout and decided to eat frozen pizzas instead.

We went back home and devoured the first pizza, which it turns out we both had as kids and was nostalgic to taste again. I guess DiGiorno's is a staple in the average American's diet. Afterwards we were still hungry and started heating up the second, but the hunger was gone by the time we took it out of the oven.

While in the car we also called Annie to figure out plans since the Saturday party was cancelled. I guess I'll be at Santa Monica Pier with her longer, but that sounds great so I'm not worried.

Before going to bed Gigi also messaged me that he had a great time at the club in NYC. She also encouraged me to be spontaneous and buy edibles to enjoy at the beach, which doesn't sound bad but I'll see if I can do that.
