0.6 Trouble
I've finished scanning the logs, San pinged Keith just as he started moving. I'm sending you Shiro's file from the facility's archives. Thanks. Any other life signs? I haven't been able to locate any, San replied, and Keith had the strangest feeling that the AI was upset about this. You did your best, the construct reassured. You heard what Shiro said. Moke a connection - [Strong Hit: 3 + 2 + 0 = 5 vs 1 | 2][Mark Progress: Forge and solidify a friendship with the ship AI (San) by becoming its c...

0.5 Mining Authority Building
It was easier to get around without the EVAC suit, so Keith picked up speed as he rounded the corner and finally emerged into the cavernous space where the facility began for real. No tourists would have wandered down here, and it was obvious in the utilitarian architecture of the building cluster that stood pressed against one side of the large, open space. The construct figured this was some kind of natural pocket in the asteroid given its uneven dimensions and sloping sides. The walls had b...

0.4 Unforeseen Attack
Keith made his way through the mall and down a wide-open corridor that led deeper into the facility. This place was built like a lot of other mining installations, and he'd seen plenty of those in his career with the Guild. They hadn't all looked the same, but he had a pretty good sense of how they were designed, largely meant to keep the permanent population (the miners and ore processors) contained and secured. Residents of these places didn't mingle with incoming captains or share stories w...

0.3 Station Mall
The train dropped Keith off at the station's travel and tourist mall, the place where crews and captains hung out while cargo was loaded onto their ships. Presumably, voluntary permanent residents also had access to this place, but according to the Feed, the mall was mostly intended for passing travelers.  Some of the advertisements still clung to their displays or else hung limply above closed shops and kiosks. The Consortium's logos loomed large across walls and tables (and many other surface...

0.2 Transit Ring
"So what do I call you?" Keith asked while waiting for the ship to finish docking procedures. Docking onto a moving transit ring while also dodging debris and space rocks was no easy task, doubly so given that no one appeared to be home inside the facility. The ship had sent half a dozen messages in various commonly-used languages on the frequencies used for close-quarters communication and received no reply. Ringing the proverbial doorbell yielded no answers, so now they would need to investig...

0.1 Providence Station
The Sanctuary's e-drive whirred to a steady halt as it exited a drift almost directly into Providence's space. The ship's external cameras zoomed in on the mining facility, which was anchored between two large asteroids and floated serenely among them. The facility itself had been built into a similar hunk of rock, so it looked astoundingly like its two neighbors. An elliptical transit ring (meant for incoming and outgoing vessels) clung to the outside the station, connected to the asteroid's i...

0.0 Emergency Signal
This will make more sense later, but you will see me add rolls and other information directly into the story as we go along. This will showcase what dice rolls and moves led me down a particular narrative path. Starforged follows a narrative-first playstyle and I will be leaning heavily into it, rolling only when I want to interject randomness or need to make a decision. Out among the stars, the Feed was merely a whisper of its planetary self. Instant communication allowed for almost any data t...

Keith
Now that you know about the world, let's meet the main character. A word of warning just off the bat: all my characters are named after various people in other media I've watched and read. It's Voltron right now, but that's going to change as we go along. They share minimal to no resemblance to their media namesakes. I just hate picking names and wasn't a huge fan of the names in the oracle, so I went with whatever I saw at any given moment. At the start of this adventure, Keith Nightwolf is b...

Welcome to Starforged
Starforged is an upcoming tabletop roleplaying game system that can be played either with a game master or without one, and it supports solo play. It was created by the same developer that did Ironsworn, and it crossed my radar as a mostly-polished ttrpg set in a distant future (which is my jam). So, I decided to give the system a go and try its solo play features (and oracles). Link to the Starforged website for anyone interested in checking out the system: https://www.ironswornrpg.com/produc...
