Offline bots are so underrated

At least once a week, I boot up Battlefront II (2005) and it's the perfect game to play after a long day of work. But, even though it's a multiplayer game- I can't ever remember playing it online. I've always played against bots. So, it got me thinking. Why aren't there more offline multiplayer games that you can play against bots?

I have so many good memories playing Battlefront when it first came out. And my friends and I would stay up all night playing together during sleepovers. But, how many multiplayer games are still relevant 20 years after release? Especially after the online player base has dwindled. Therefore, I see a missed opportunity for a lot of studios to keep their games relevant long-term.

Battlefront is still fun to play in 2025. And after 20 years of playing I'm confident I can say I'm a "retained" customer. But, for as much as the game industry values retention, they're overlooking a great feature. So, yeah... I hope this feature makes a comeback. It would help increase the shelf life of a lot of multiplayer games even after the player base has dwindled.
