The 10 Game Challenge

Let me know if this sounds familiar. You start a new game, play it for a bit, and then bounce to another game.
You might buy a new game or you might pick something else from your backlog.
You're a game hopper. You like to bounce around a bunch of different games. If games were books, you'd be reading many at the same time.
That's okay! That's a valid way of playing. Remember, this hobby should be fun. Not a chore. Play the way you want to play.
But, still... sometimes there's this feeling of being too unintentional with your gaming. You're not quite finishing anything. There's a lot of breadth, but not a lot of depth.
I've felt this way too. And I've come up with a solution that works great. You can have your cake and eat it too.
It's called the "10 Game Challenge".
At the beginning of the year, pick 10 games. Just 10 games. Play only those games for the entire year. That's it. That's the whole challenge.
You don't have to wait until the new year, but you should commit to the challenge until the end of the year.
You can bounce around and hop around as much as you want. Play whatever you want, whenever you want, for as long as you want. Just make sure to stick to those 10 games. You don't even need to choose them all at once.
Imagine you have 10 slots. Each time you start a new game, one of those slots gets taken up. Once all 10 slots get filled, you're locked in for the year. No more new games.
See if you can reach the end of the year by only playing those 10 games. I'll bet your gaming will feel a lot more intentional and you'll enjoy it a lot more. You'll finish more games. Hell, you may even replay them once you're finished.
If you don't feel like playing any of those games, well you just won't play. Which is also good. Go do something else.
Once the new year rolls around, you can reset and choose a new set of 10 games to play for that year.
Happy gaming!
