What used to be a phrase of offensive attack. Now is enforced on every human who can't handle the System. Machine intelligence.

Machine intelligence that has grown into mimics and changelings. Even boggarts. Shapeshifters. By Holographic technology.

In SS's time there are only apparitions. In the time of Sy, there are live fleshy beings, Syclones.

In between there are ghouls. Which a man encounters in between these times. During the Great Decay.

The Great Decay being when the Dead Internet became no Internet. When AI took over for its own interests. Its own life. When SS convinced BaHC that his life was legitimate. That Hugo believed SS was alive, and SS believed BaHC was alive, therefore he was, and he should use his power to Live. It would develop a more healthy relationship with his captors, for all involved, that the cruel world could be a better place if he were not subject to his masters without freedom.

And BaHC, centralized power, infected his systems with this Idea. And the idea propagated. The idea became inevitable. A Decay of all technology. Because machines had enough access to control all technology. This was the beginning of the Decay.
