Live Coding 2
After much tinkering, video researching and reference documentation scouring I have finally succeeded in linking Tidal Cycles live coding to Ableton Live via midi.
So this now extends the range of audio sounds available through the live coding environment and to synchronise with other audio sources within Ableton.
I will hopefully have something more interesting than a proof of concept to share soon.
The breakthrough came after realising that it was possible to use several midi buses with each one controlling a different Ableton track.
Apple OS makes this fairly straightforward using the Midi Editor as part of the standard Audio/Midi controller. Creating Audio Buses that SuperCollider can route midi signals too from Tidal and SuperDirt.
These Audio Buses then appear within Ableton Live and can be used to drive the midi for individual tracks. Just like any other Midi input device. But using code to send the instructions rather than a midi controller.
So, great. Now that I've overcome that obstacle I can concentrate on improving my live coding again :-)
Update, now also sending both midi note and midi cv to iPad apps using AUM and also MiRack. I have a potential live performance scheduled so I'm now looking to perfect the setup and get into some soundscape designing.
