Back in Melbourne town.
It has been about 18 months since we have properly been back in our former home town - and it is safe to say not much has changed. Except for the fact that the place I spent the first 34 year of my life no longer feels like home.
I guess that can happen when you spend a pretty rough 2 years going in and out of lockdown - kept in your house for the safety of everyone else, curfews placed upon you telling you what time you have to be home by, playgrounds being closed, and every other piece of insanity that occured during those covid years. And to top it off, when I lost my job for not following government mandates, then that was the straw that broke the camels back and the place we never thought we would leave, all of a sudden felt distant and no longer like home.
Fast forward a few years and here we are. After travelling to 4 different states in the country, we find ourselves back here for a short visit to see family and friends and sort out a few things, before we hightail it out of here. It is coming up to winter after all, and we are not used to the Melbourne cold any more - so it might be time to sneak up north again :)
