We Encourage Moldova to Join NATO

🇲🇩 Moldova is a very small nation. They will not be able to defend themselves against Russia. Russia is already planning Moldova's destruction, and trying to destroy the Moldovan government. Moldova was considering a bid to join the alliance, and Russia immediately created a plan to destroy the government. We should allow Moldova to join NATO if that is what they decide to do, even before they completely meet all of the requirements in order to protect them from Russia. Perhaps we can create a new transitionary membership category for Moldova that allows NATO to act as a protectorate for the nation while they make progress on the full membership requirements. Can we provide them with security guarantees? Can we allow Moldova to become NATO territory without giving them full membership until they meet all of the requirements?

Of course if a NATO member acts as a protectorate of a smaller nation, then they are automatically NATO territory without having NATO membership. That is why I proposed the USA act as.a protectorate of Ukraine as a solution. But perhaps NATO could act as a protectorate of these vulnerable nations instead. Perhaps the vulnerable nations will prefer a NATO solution - becoming a protectorate of another nation might feel too risky for them or self-defeating.

I understand the NATO membership requirements are essential to protect the alliance from corrupt nations. Corrupt nations will try to game the system, and they will use the Turkey playbook as an example. But we have to find a way to protect these European countries that are extremely vulnerable to Russian aggression and manipulation even though they do not meet the NATO requirements yet. Otherwise we will fail at securing Europe, which is NATO's purpose.
