🇺🇸🇪🇺🇬🇧 I think Kaja Kallas and Mark Rutte are both strong candidates to be the next leader of NATO. Maybe we can have two chiefs. Two brilliant leaders are better than one, especially at a critical time for the alliance.
I think all members of NATO understand the importance of burden sharing now. I don't think burden sharing is the most critical qualifying factor. Having the right leadership traits is much more important. Maintaining unity in the alliance is going to be one of the most challenging tasks for the next Secretary-General, so a centrist leader with over a decade of experience collaborating with all of the other NATO member leaders, like Mark Rutte has done for 13 years, is going to be paramount. But having a NATO leader with a vision and innovative ideas like Kaja Kallas is also critical. If no single candidate has both the vision and the experience, maybe we can pair the two candidates together. xo
