Firstly I would talk about a classic Bollywood movie called Taare Zameen Par. This movie is about this boy named Ishaan, who was abused by his father because of his low academic performance, later on he sent off to boarding school, which he was forced to go too. Then he meets his new art teacher Ram, the teacher quickly learns that Ishaan has dyslexia. Ram approaches Ishaan and tells him that he is dyslexic and what exactly it is. They both work together to figure out Ishaan's true potential. While watching this movie, you can really sympathize for Ishaan because you see his father beat him, scream at him and do all these terrible things, also you can see him overcome these struggles.

David Copperfiled by Charles Dickens is also a fantastic example on how art can make someone have empathy.
