Why do you learn French?

Thursday, 21 Sept 2023

Morning, everyone. Today, I have no idea what I want to talk about. I really have no idea. Yeah. Ohh yeah, I've got this question often. About why do you learn French? I don't mind that question. It's a very common question. But I do mind it when it comes with judgment as well as in,

"Okay, why do you learn French? You should learn Arabic first."

Something like that. I was like, "Why not? I mean, why can't I learn French? I mean, I can understand that learning French might not be as important as learning Arabic, especially when you're a Muslim.

But, I don't know, just like learning French changed my life. It actually helps me overcome the issues I've had like social anxiety. UM. Yeah, a lot of different issues that I struggled with in the past few years. So yeah, learning French also is a lot easier than learning Arabic. Yeah. And also, why does it concern you, me, learning whatever language I want? I mean, obviously I've learned Arabic and it doesn't seem to get me anywhere. Just because I have been learning Arabic for the past, well, for 10 years already and I still struggled with the language. So maybe me learning French just. I just want to learn French just so that I know that I can still learn the language as an adult. So yeah. Yeah, I don't mind that question, but that question is not OK when it comes with a certain judgment in mind. So I don't know. Yeah.

Maybe I'll talk about some of the language partners that I've had. Maybe not today. But I do know that finding a language partner is not easy. Like I went through about 4-5 hundred. Messages, no 500 conversations, maybe more than 1000 messages already, just to get the partners that I have right now. I think I'm rotating ten language partners right now.

And speaking of language partners, I have someone. I have someone because I'm doing a language exchange with people who can speak French, but for some of these people, they can also speak Arabic, so I forgot maybe half of my language partners in rotation right now who can speak Arabic. But but but I have no idea whether I should restart my Arabic lessons. Here, as mentioned before, I'm a perfectionist, so I just want everything to be perfect before I can start doing something, which is not actually a good idea. UM. Because I try not to be a perfectionist, but I have no idea how I will approach because I failed three times before learning Arabic, so I really need to make sure I'm willing to have a plan before moving forward.

I don't know what do you guys think? I really have no idea what to do in this case. Yeah, hopefully I will come up with some sort of plan. Hopefully soon, but for now, I. OK, I'll stick with learning French for now. But for for five years, so yeah. I think that's it. Bye.
