Readwise Highlight 3: The Divine Speech (Quranic Reinterpretation of Biblical Stories)

I've got another Readwise highlight that I want to share with you. It's from the book "Nouman Ali Khan: The Divine Speech." It's a great book, by the way; you should read it.

Some people argue that the Quran merely borrows stories from the Bible and the Torah, but that's not true. While it mentions the same personages and characters like Moses and Jesus, for example, the Quran retells the stories in a different way that remains relevant to its contextโ€”both in the past, present, and future. It also confines itself to the Oneness of Allah.

If you've read the Quran, you'll notice that it primarily focuses on Tawhidโ€”the oneness of Allah. It recounts how people in the past failed to follow the guidance of the messengers at the time, a theme retold throughout the Quran. This comprises a significant portion of the Quran, with the rest offering guidance on various aspects, like morality and rules. Most of the Quran serves as reminders about what happened to people in the past, if that makes sense. That's what I gathered from this book and the English translation of the Quran. I just wanted to share that with you. Thank you for listening. Bye-bye.
