Elimination of Hurry

One of the gifts about having a son is that it forces you to slow down. Before having my son, I would spend hours on my computer, working on Cybersecurity projects to learn and grow in my career at a rate that was sure to lead to burnout. Once burnout eventually came, I felt myself always wanting to go back to the way things were….careerism. But having my son forced me to put those things aside, in a cool way having a baby enabled me to become who I wanted to become all along and I had no idea. Most times people complain about having kiddos, thinking that there personal time is over, and they won’t be able to do things for themselves. I will say, for those looking for a way out of careerism, and do not want to feel guilty for just putting down the computer, have a lot of kids. There is nothing better than no screens, just you, your baby, and the world ahead of you. I spend more time thinking about my son now than anything else, and it is wonderful. I have lost the desire to stay ahead, to keep up with AI, to climb the later. Do not get me wrong, I am driven, I want to pursue excellence and drive innovation in Cyber. But the constant stress and anxiety of staying ahead, keeping up, and rushing to everything is not worth the stress and anxiety it causes. I like the slow life, one where I can enjoy my passions, and stay present with my son.
