The Construct of Gender

Gender is a social construct and people should live and be who their personalities are regardless of their physical sex.
It isn’t uncommon to not fit the masculine-feminine boxes presented by society and it is without consequence to discard these ideas in the spirit of humanity and inclusivity.
A present symptom of the conflict between gender (societally-defined) and physical sex is the occurrence of gender-reassignment surgeries.
If gender is an artificial concept that doesn’t accurately apply to the human experience, then everyone is their correct self and was born into the right physical body.
Therefore, gender reassignment surgeries as the solution are an affirmation and acceptance of harmful, socially-constructed gender norms.
To truly progress, individual sexuality, expression, and presentation need to be accepted as independent of the physical sex (ex. biological male dressing in societally-defined feminine clothing). This doesn’t make a statement on the personal decision to pursue reassignment.
