Passage: Colossians 3
(H) Highlight
- Colossians 3:23–24
- [23] Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, [24] knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
(E) Explain
- In whatever work or effort is before us, work hard. Do your best. Do it with all your heart. And, on top of this, do it as if you are working for the Lord and not man. Man's approval is meaningless. It is from the Lord in whom the inheritance and the reward will come. Remember we are serving Christ, not man.
(A) Apply
- I must remember and strive to work as to the Lord when at work. My hard work and effort must be motivated by serving King Jesus and not my employer. Even when the work is difficult or I don't agree with the direction or why, I must do a good job. I think this moves into other areas like work gossip, attitude, encouragement, and setting a good example. Negativity is an easy mode to get into.
(R) Respond
- Lord, may I work as unto You and only You. May this be my desire. Thank you for work and provision. May I honor this gift of work. Amen
