Passage: Hebrews 4

(H) Highlight

  • Hebrews 4:15 - For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

(E) Explain

  • We have a high priest, a perfect priest, who knows our sinful flesh, but is not sinful Himself. He has been tempted like us in every way, but is without sin. His temptation does not have an affect on him.

(A) Apply

  • I must remember that Jesus, as my high priest, has been absolutely tempted as I have, but is perfect and without sin. He has never given into His temptation. Therefore, by the power of the Holy Spirit living in me, I can draw from His example and grace to resist temptation.

(R) Respond

  • Lord Jesus, as I am tempted, please help me, empower me to resist temptation and turn to YOU in my time of need.
