Passage: Hebrews 7
(H) Highlight
- Hebrews 7:22 - This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.
(E) Explain
- Prior to this is a discussion of the law and the priesthood and the lines of the priesthoods and the changes when a new priest in installed. Here, v.22 is declaring Jesus and the new and final priest AND an altogether new covenant. Not only is it new, but it's better and Jesus himself
(A) Apply
- Jesus is the priest of my life. He is the guarantor (the one who pays the debt, the financial obligation, or who certifies my identity)! Follow hard after Jesus. As I heard this morning: His grace empowers me to obey and receive blessing.
(R) Respond
- I'm so grateful for Jesus. Thank you Lord for your grace and salvation and becoming the guarantor or our better covenant!
Other Thoughts
- A guarantor is a person or entity who legally guarantees a financial obligation for another person. In situations like renting an apartment, a guarantor agrees to pay the rent if the primary tenant fails to do so. Guarantors are typically needed when a person doesn't meet the financial requirements to secure a lease or loan on their own, and they may also be required to certify someone's identity for applications like passports.
